Very few books tell a story of redemption as well as Schindler’s Ark. It is no mistake that this book has been adapted into a film that has been rated to be one of the greatest films ever made. My tears still well up when I read this book as it reminds me of how broken our world is and just how much the efforts of one man can change the world. Luckily, I read the book before I watched the film and I must say, the film does so much justice to the book. The movie retells an already beautiful book so meticulously it is almost impossible to tell it is the same story as well as it being hard to differentiate the same story. That is how beautiful this book is.
Schindler’s Ark (later known as Schindler’s List) is the story of Oskar Schindler- a drunk, womanizing, very smooth-talking individual who later became a hero that would never be forgotten to this very day. Because of his social and charming personality, Oskar enjoyed the good life socializing with the commanders at the Nazi concentration camp during the 2nd World War. However as Auschwitz concentration camp turned into a killing camp for Jews, he risked his own life severally trying to protect the lives of the then outcasted Jews in Nazi-occupied Poland and Czechoslovakia. In the course of this brave yet dangerous endeavour, he was several times arrested but luckily found a way to always outwit the Nazi Regime. Oskar is famed or saving the lives of over a thousand Jews who would have otherwise died under the hands of the regime then.
As I write this, you might think this is just another ordinary book about heroism, but here are 3 things that stood out for me in this book that will make me remember it for the rest of my life.
Not all heroes wear caps
With the advent of comic books and superhero films, we have been made to believe that as a superhero one should wear caps. Well, unlike Superman, Batman, or Thor, Oskar was a superhero to many yet he did not wear a cap. He was a simple man whose heart was all that he needed to function for him to make a difference. In his attempt to do what his heart told him to do, Oskar ended up being a legend. A Beverly Hills bag-seller known as Leopold Page, for a long time tried to persuade Hollywood to make a film about the man who had saved his wife and him from the Nazis. When he found Thomas Keneally he finally knew someone is going to tell the story of his favorite superhero.
One man can make a difference
Although we have been led to believe that it takes an entire generation to make a change, this book reminds us of the effect that a single man can have on an entire generation, and of generations to come. Oskar’s simple decision and the risk he decided to take not only saved the lives of thousands but also inspire millions to this day to take risks. When one man stands for the truth, though he may be going against what is normal at that time, he will be remembered for ages to come. That is the impact of one man.
This is just one of those books that you need to read to understand how blessed you are to have freedom, liberty, and life. It also reminds us of the impact you can have for your generation when you stand for the truth.
Me Before You- Jojo Moyes
When you want to talk about romance novels that not only make your heart race but also make your eyes well up, then you can definitely never fail to mention ‘Me Before You’. This is one of those books that will live in your heart for so long it will probably restore your faith in humanity and the beauty that love is. I was fortunate enough to watch the adapted movie before I read the book and I must say, the book blew me away. Yes, Me Before You was adapted into a commercially successful film with the same name which premiered in 2016.
Me before you is basically the story of Loisa and Will. Louisa is an unambitious young lady who ends up falling in love with Will, a quadriplegic who is tired of his life and intends to end his life. As the novel progresses, we are pulled into a relationship between two people from extreme opposites of the world in so many dimensions. The story unfolds so beautifully and it consumes the reader barely allowing them to place the book down for even a single moment. So, what makes Me Before You stand out so much both as the book and as the critically acclaimed film?
The plight of Disabled People
We know all the marginalization that goes on in the world. Thankfully, books from time immemorial have been addressing these issues, and luckily, Me Before You did the exact same thing. It addresses the challenges that disabled people go through and their plight for equality. Further, it addresses just how hard it can get for someone who becomes disabled midway through life. Through the eyes of Will, we see a man so torn through being quadriplegic that he is willing to lose his life just so he does not have to live his life in the wheelchair.
Love transcends everything
Love is a universal language. Everyone understands love and yearns for it. And that is exactly what this book tries to tell us. Despite our differences in race, culture, religion, and even physical abilities, we crave love. The lives of Will and Louisa are technically one of the most ordinarily impossible to intertwine. But their love story reminds us that love transcends ambition, physical disability, and even social class. As the book nears its end, Louisa confesses her feelings to Will who, despite his slightly hardened heart proves eventually that he loves her even more.
There is always light at the end of the tunnel
This book takes us on an emotional rollercoaster. We go through the pain of disability, post-traumatic experiences, the power of love, goodness, and some good travel, and eventually, through the tough choices, we all have to make as we journey through life. The book gives us an insightful look that mirrors our everyday life reminding us that despite all that we are going through there is light at the end of the tunnel.
Very strong characters
If there is something I thoroughly admired about Me Before You is the strength and relatability of these characters. In this universe, these individuals are not just going through life with sad stories and a tale of love, they are going through what ordinary people go through, facing the same challenges we do and making the same mistakes. This makes it more than just a romance novel, it sounds like a biography of each and every one of us- at least through certain phases of our lives that we go through. If you want a romance novel, go for it. If you want an exciting biography that you can relate with no matter your stage in life, go for it. You will never regret it.
Born a Crime from Funny man Trevor Noah
There are just names that when you hear, you instantly start laughing. Their humour is witty, their jokes are relevant and timely and you connect with them at a personal level. Trevor Noah is one such individual. You can never go wrong with him. He will make you laugh, cry, and be emotionally-charged at the same time. And this is exactly what he brings in his 2016 novel, Born a Crime. More like an autobiographical novel, Born a Crime leaves you in apartheid South Africa living out the life of coloured Trevor Noah. His comical nature of handling hard truths is not left behind in this book. This indeed is one of the greatest books you will ever read.
Trevor grows from aboy into a restless young man struggling to find himself in a world where he was ‘forbidden’. This is the story of Trevor’s relationship with his strict and severely religious mother- a woman ready to give it all for him. Whether they were surviving on caterpillars as a meal during hard times or being thrown out of a moving car during as someone attempt to kidnap him, or even just the intricacies of high school dating, Trevor’s stories come together to form a hilariously engaging story of a boy trying to live in a damaged world at a bad time, with only his witty sense of humour and the unshakable love of a mother.
So, 3 reasons why Born a Crime will remain in your heart for a very long time.
It is super comical
If you have ever watched ‘The Daily Show’ then you just know how comical Trevor Noah is. You can be sure you will laugh through almost all the pages of this beautiful book. As you peruse through these pages you will be presented with such a funny view of almost everything you read.
It handles very serious life issues
Even to this day, Trevor Noah handles the most serious of issues in a very funny way. From all his projects including stand-up comedy and talk shows, he comically talks about race, discrimination, corruption, disease, and poverty. So, even as you laugh your heart out, he will plough into your conscious the most key things that will cause you to reexamine the trivial, but often overlooked aspects of your life.
It is raw and honest
Being that it is the life story of Trevor Noah as he wades through his life, born and raised in an apartheid environment, he simply says it as it is. The struggles, challenges, victories, and lessons that he learned together with his family are what makes this one of the rawest autobiographies you will ever read.
It immerses you in a new experience
When you start this book, you officially become a South African. There is no doubt about that. Trevor immerses you so much into his world, his experiences, his struggles, and everything he does so much it becomes almost impossible to fail to fit into his shoes. You know people say you get consumed into the author’s imagination when you are reading their book but this is more than that. When you read Born a crime you enter Trevor Noah’s life and live it through his words understanding all that he is going through as though you were right there with him.
If you have never believed in the beauty of autobiographies, then this is a good place to start. It is not only a witty and humorous story, but it is also a book that pulls you into a hopeful story in a messed up world.
Year of Yes- Shonda Rhimes
When someone talks of Shona Rhimes, we all think of acclaimed, award-winning television show creator, writer, and executive producer. Well-known for her hit show ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ and its spin-off ‘Private Practise’ as well as legal dramas ‘Scandal’ and ‘How to get away with murder’, Shonda Rhimes has outdone herself over and over again. And she is not just a television show creator and does not just write screenplays, she is also an acclaimed novelist, and today we want to focus on her book, Year of Yes. When you want to understand the power of positivity and female power, then this is the book for you. So, grab a pen and notebook and let me take you down the path of the 4 greatest lessons you can learn as a woman, or as a person just basically trying to make it through an unfair world with hidden opportunities.
- Say Yes to your physique
Rhimes admits to have had challenges with her physical appearance. Her weight has been an issue that scarred her emotions and esteem for a long time. She often used to say Yes to her overeating and though that that would help her hide what was really disturbing her inside. She then changed her eating habits and started living healthy. In her book, she advocates that no one should ever judge you by how you look but you need to make deliberate changes to love yourself, not by necessarily transforming yourself to what the society says, but by embracing the best version of yourself. Say yes to your physique.
- Say Yes to Your Voice
Shonda Rhimes admits to always being the person who preferred to have a silent voice and not really air what she felt was wrong and how she thought it could be handled. Of course, she admits that at times certain voices propagate lies and division. But her desire to have her voice heard was even propagated through Grey Anatomy’s Christina Yang who ended up saying everything that Shonda was at times never confident enough to say. It took Rhimes a lot of effort to graduate herself from using Yang’s character to ultimately using her voice. Her advice to you is you do not have to have an award-winning show to air your voice, just use the platform available, no matter how small it is.
- Say Yes to Being the No Person
Shonda admits in her book that for a long time she was the person who feared so much for societal acceptance and having friends around her, that she often did not have the strength to say no, even to decisions that could damage her. This eventually caused her a lot of pain and made her make bad decisions that needed a lot fo work to rectify. Shonda advices her readers to learn to say no when it matters the most. Have difficult and uncomfortable conversations whenever you need to. You will appreciate yourself later on for doing that.
- Say Yes to genuine relationships
We often put up masks to fit in- get this from a billionaire celebrity who is friends with the likes of Obama. In her debut book, Shonda categorically reminds us to say yes only to true friendships. There is nothing worse than thinking someone has got your back as a friend, or family, only to be crushed when you need them the most. Be a good friend, and only trust the real versions of people.
From a person who creates fictional characters for a living, Shonda did a superb job in being herself in this novel. She delved into deep aspects of herself and her struggles that will impact millions from all over the world.
Stephen King’s IT
It is almost impossible to try and mention modern-day horror books, or films, without mentioning the legendary Stephen King. This man is simply our times greatest horror storyteller. How do we know this? Almost all his books have been developed into films and have massacred at the box office. One of his most legendary books is IT. Adapted into a tv show and several films, this book has become one of the most legendary horror stories ever written. It is also somehow believed to be true in some regions of the world. So, what makes this book, published in 1986, one of the greatest stories ever told?
- A very nicely thought out story
The story of IT is just simply phenomenal. Let’s just start with the title of the book ‘IT’. Like who even titles their book It? This anonymity even sparks the curiosity of the reader further. When you delve into the book and start going through the journey of the children who mysteriously disappear in the local town of Maine, you get so consumed as you try to navigate your way through it. With an antagonist who is paranormal and feeds on the fears of his victims, who are children, you will be taken through a rollercoaster of emotions such as thrill, fear, excitement, and even spite as some level. The story is just phenomenal.
- The protagonists are children
Some of America’s greatest works of art in film and novel always have children as their protagonists. It taps into the emotion of consumers because of the innate love for kids. This is exactly what Stephen King taps into in his novel. Just a bunch of kids, who have insecurities, struggle with adolescence and acceptance, and on top of all that have an adversary who seeks to feed on their fear and eventually feed on them. The journey of these kids as they try to overcome their fears, as well as Pennywise, will lead them down a path that no one can predict.
- Pennywise
Who does not love a good back story for their bad guy? Pennywise is genuinely one of the very best characters to ever be created. His strengths, weaknesses, motivations, and even tactics make him so sly, unpredictable, and dangerous. And it even gets worse when his main targets are kids. The character arc of this antagonist and his journey as he preys on small kids make him one of the best characters to ever be created in any story universe. It even got better when Bill Skarsgard brought that character to life in the 2017 film adaptation of the book. It was as though he was born just to play the dreaded pennywise.
- Supporting characters
Besides the seven main children who play the main characters, they have supporting friends and family who do a good job of developing the stories for these kids. It is so beautiful how Stephen King has woven together these characters and given them good support characters as well to make this more than just a mere horror film. It’s a relatable book to any individual who will find someone to identify with throughout the story.
Stephen King is just a master of his art, that is indisputable. And this has been proven in his works of art, and most especially It. There could be a slight back and forth on which is King’s greatest book and which film or tv show is the best adaptation, but one thing I am sure all horror fans can agree on is the fact that the entire horror universe would never be the same without Stephen King.
50 Shades of what?
50 Shades of what?
We have all heard of this story at some point in our lives- whether we have read the book or not. The acclaimed love story of Christian and Anastacia. Sometimes hailed as the greatest romance novel ever written, this book stayed on the NYT best sellers list for a very long time. So what makes 50 shades of Grey such a memorable book and why do people think its one of the greatest books ever written. Let us dive a little deeper into this universe and dissect a few issues on why the book appealed to so many but was somewhat hailed as an equal failure by some readers.
The book revolves around billionaire entrepreneur Christian Grey who develops a relationship with literature student Anastacia Steele. What starts as an innocent interview that Anastacia goes to have with Christian, turns out to a passionate story of love, erotic expression, and emotional insecurity. We all battle with our own demons but this story reveals underlying issues in the lives of these two individuals that reveals their own demons. Two different people from very different walks of life who try to work out a relationship that might, or might not work eventually.
What makes 50 Shades of Grey a good book?
So, what makes this book a very nice book that has appealed to millions worldwide?
- It is fantasies fulfiled
From the erotic nature of the book to the billionaire boyfriend to instant sparks exploding between two people at just the sight of each other, this book simply put: fulfils the desires of very many people. The book takes you to a eutopia and leaves you yearning for more.
- It is also relatable
As author E L James takes you to this eutopia, he still keeps you in the real world, where people have struggles, disagree and are even torn at crossroads quite often. This makes the book balance the effect of fantasy and reality and present you with an outlook that will make you think, do I really want this life in 50 Shades of Grey or is my life in itself just good enough?
- It shows us the battles in our mind
The book also breaks down what goes on in our minds. How far are you willing to go for someone you love? The dilemma between breaking your principles and staying with someone you love? The crossroads of sacrificing what you believe in or sacrificing who you love. Even as the book excites you with all the nicely written romance paragraphs, it gets you thinking, what would I have done if I was in their shoes? And what am I doing in my life when I am at a crossroad like that?
However, there is also a section of readers who have thoroughly critiqued the film based on these premises:
- Depiction of love and sex
The book has been criticized by several people by its depiction of sex and its relation to love. The depiction and glorification of BDSM have also been said to have been quite extreme. The choices that the characters make as well has been pointed out as not necessarily being the very best choices that point towards true love. This, some readers feel that overall, makes 50 Shades of Grey to change from being a love story to being a sexual story. But with the world we live in: who could blame them?
Well, that just about sums it up, 50 Shades of Grey is undoubtedly a good book, but like anything in this world, it has its fair share of pitfalls. But I will let you be the judge of that. If you have read the book, share with us what you think. If not, grab a book, have a read, and tell us what you think.
The Millionaire Next Door: The Surprising Secrets of America’s Wealthy
‘The goal is to be rich, not to look rich.’ This was my ‘aha’ moment when I was reading this book. What a deep revelation this was! Very many of us have been consumed into the abyss of wanting to look rich, rather than being rich. This is the reason more and more Americans, and the world in general, is surviving on debts that will haunt them for the rest of their lives. This book, right here, debunks that myth and reminds us that the wealthiest people often do not necessarily look rich, but are financially free. On the other hand, the middle-class population is the biggest spenders on external traits that make people appear rich yet in actual sense they are enslaved financially! Here are 3 memorable lessons I learned from this beautiful book from Thomas J. Stanley and William D. Danko.
· Live below your means
Anyone can decide to live from hand to mouth, but it takes a brave person to live below their means. It genuinely takes courage to not spend your money on fancy things like fashion and the latest phones because you are thinking about tomorrow. The truth, however, is that if you do not live below your means- especially when you are starting your wealth-building journey- you will probably never achieve the financial explorations you set out to do. This takes a lot of courage as it includes overcoming peer pressure in a world where peer pressure rules.
· Do not be overdependent- take risks
It is good to have parental support to kickstart your life, but research reveals that this support can at times be counterproductive to an individual who is seeking to kickstart his journey to wealth. Necessity is the mother of invention- therefore, not taking the first primary risk of fending for yourself will result in an overall low wealth accumulation track record. Also, this encourages people from getting out of their comfort zones and taking risks. The greater the risk, the greater the reward. The book emphasized that financial independence is the first step in a long journey of achieving wealth accumulation.
· Use your time well
We all know just how vital time is and that we all have a limited allocated portion of it. This could not be emphasized enough in this book. In an average lifetime of a human being, spanning 70 years, or 80 if one is lucky, very few people achieve true financial independence or even accumulate wealth. Most people go through life not planning or strategizing for the future. Millionaire Mindset insists that you need to use your time well, especially for personal growth. The study, read books and take care of your body. Spend time with people that you love for even in wealth, human love is very core and the most vital aspect of human life. In simple terms, let go of anything that takes up your time and limits your wealth building and focus on what is important and helps build your financial independence.
There are tones of lessons learned in the pursuit of wealth accumulation from a typical American example as revealed in this book. The authors reveal the secrets that make the pursuit of wealth seem somewhat challenging but in real sense is quite simple. Employing strategies and disciplines such as the ones above, and a tone of other lessons from the book will leave you with financial independence and wealth-building mentality that will last you throughout your lifetime- and into several generations to come. I would say this is a conclusive synopsis of the book, but books such as this need individuals to read it for themselves, from the first page to last, to explore the intricacies of true wealth accumulation.
Becoming Michelle Obama
Becoming is a twenty-four chapter memoir of former US first lady Michelle Obama. It broke the record by selling more copies in 15 days than any other book in the US. The book is all about her deeply personal experience. She has described her life in the White House, her roots, how she found her voice, campaign moments and her role as a mum. The book is published by Crown which was released with more than twenty-four languages. The book is reported to have been published in November 2018.
When She was four years old Michelle Obama started learning her piano lessons with her aunt. The book captures her memories as a teenager with her friend Jesse. The best moments perhaps the book captures is with her alliance with her husband Barrack Obama. The relationship first does not seems to develop first since they are opposing forces. How the relationship started is something you can read again and again and smile to yourself. Michelle does think they fit and Obama is full of anxiety.
Their manners make the relationship develop and they now seem to match. Michelle now sees him as a unicorn and they have their first date. She described the moment of the events of their first date just like it was yesterday and how she dressed. During their courtship, Obama Writes letters While she insists on making phone calls. After getting married, Obama starts committing in politics which keeps him busy most of the time which makes her a bit more comfortable but she tries to adapt.
After a campaign, Obama wins and the power installs them as Potus and Flotus with their Secret Service code names Renegade and Renaissance. She does not like the heaviness the presidency comes with including heavy security, a limo equipped with many safety weapons and security measures which can help it withstand chemical attacks. Sometimes she ignores the protocol and gives the queen a hug when they meet for the first time, she does her dance moves, do some rapping with Jay Pharoah and have Karaoke with James Corden. She dint have direct power like Obama but she practiced soft powers. Unlike Hillary Clinton who didn’t stay at home, Michelle spent some more time in the garden and the house.
When you read the book you will feel how she treasures her young daughters and their presidential pet. Sometimes it turns emotional when you read about her father’s death from multiple sclerosis and sometimes it is fun when she describes how she is adapting to her new Washington home which creates a scene that makes you feel like you are there.
When I opened the first page of the book and start reading the book, you can feel the presence of the former first lady at the moment. When reading you can hear her voice back in your mind. You can reflect and get into her world through her mesmerizing storytelling technique. You walk with her from her childhood in the southern side of Chicago. You get to learn how she was trying to balance motherhood and her career. She narrates her disappointments and triumphs both in private and in public with kind honesty. She does tell her full life story without in the best interesting way I have never experienced.
She has done a couple of many interviews trying to explain how she came with the title becoming. On one interview with Oprah Winfrey, they discuss the book she explains why that, the word “becoming” summirizes, her evolving life. When you read the book from her young age to being the first lady and a mother you truly get to see how her life is evolving.
Children of Blood and Bone Tomi Adeyemi
I must admit, this is one of those novels that will just blow your mind. No phrase describes this book better. Your mind will simply be blown away by this masterpiece of a novel. Based on the fictitious world of Orisha, Children of Blood and Bone is one of the best Scifi novels to every grace the eyes of any reader out there- and this is no exaggeration. Written by 26-year-old African-American writer Tomi Adeyemi, this novel takes you on a rollercoaster of the beautiful and rich culture of Africa condensed into a Scifi novel of only 525 pages. Children of Blood and Bones was published on the 6th of March 2018 and immediately went down into history as one of the best novels to ever be written. So, what makes this Scifi novel such a brilliant piece of art and why does it resonate so much with readers from all over the world?
Beautiful Story
There is no doubt about the beauty of this fabulous story. Set in a fantasy where magic and evil rulers exist, one would be quick to judge this as another fairy tale novel. But as you get deeper; you go through a journey with Zélie, a girl, born into an otherwise forgotten culture of Maji, a magic-wielding lineage. Her family and friends were killed when she was still young leaving her to grow up in absolute fear of their physique and life-long mantle of using their magic for the good of Orisha. As the story progresses, we are introduced to an unlikely alliance between Zélie and Amari, who is the daughter to the king who killed Zélie’s parents. This alliance must be able to help restore the magic to the Maji and consequently bring order, equality, and balance back to the people. So, will these two achieve what they set out to do or will they be ultimately brought down by Inan- Amari’s brother who is hot on their trail and eager to prove himself to his father?
Powerful undertones and high relatability
This is not just an ordinary fantasy adult novel that is telling a beautiful story. This book draws a lot of its inspiration from all the evil going on in the world, sometimes disguised as supremacy and correctness. With a lot of inspiration drawn from the ‘Black Lives Matter Movement’, this book speaks volumes on the need to treat everyone equally despite where they are from, what they look like, what family they were born into, and what the colour of their hair is. In simple terms, just like the world we live in today, the Maji were treated differently purely based on their appearance. This was a hard hit to racism.
Almost Perfect Story Arc
We cannot deny that this story is almost perfect. The arc of both the antagonist and protagonist are so neatly woven together in perfect harmony without the need for unnecessary convenience in the story. Simply put, the plot of this story is so well-structured in a seamless manner that it appeals both to the experienced novelist and a greenhorn just looking for an exciting story.
This is a good story that I would recommend for anyone interested in not only a good, captivating, and exciting story, but also for someone who appreciated writing as a form of art. Tomi Adeyemi does not just pull you into her world, she keeps you there, glued to the very end. The last sentence of this book will leave you yearning for the sequel in the trilogy, ‘Children of Virtue and Vengeance’. It is no wonder that the book already has a film adaptation in the waterworks.
Ryan Holiday’s Ego is the Enemy
Many self-help books have been written in the modern and even ancient days but nothing quite stands out like Ryan Holiday’s Ego is the Enemy. Scholars and basic literates have likewise admonished self-help books as being basic cash crunches but many agree that Ego is the Enemy is indeed a masterpiece in calling out an age-old ‘disease’ inflicting every modern-day man called ‘EGO’.
Written by a man who had the first-hand experience in dealing with ego itself, the book was published in 2016 and still stands as one of the author’s greatest books to this day. After going through spirals of massive success and unforeseen failure, the author finally realized that the biggest issue he was facing was his ego. He even gives a story of how he had earlier on though he had conquered his ego only to realize later on, that at the pinnacle of his success, ego came back and almost took over his entire life. That’s when he realized that fighting the ego is an everyday battle that must be conquered at each passing moment.
Drawing inspirations from all spheres of life, the book is divided into three phases of each human’s probable life experiences and how to tackle the ego at each phase. During each of these phases, the author draws examples from different historical figures, fables, and personal experiences to depict exactly how ego is everyone’s enemy. This not only makes the book an interesting read in terms of self-help but also makes it an entirely exciting and relatable read as it draws experiences that every reader can personally relate to.
Phase 1: Aspiration
As every man aspires, he is faced with a major challenge of a likewise aspiring ego. In his book, Ryan explains how ego is a very dangerous force and why it can turn your aspirations upside down and leave you never achieving what you had intended. This is a crucial stage to overcome ego as this will set a precept for handling ego even the consequent phases.
Phase 2: Success
Drawing quotes from different authors and philosophers, Ryan insurmountably reiterates the fact that it is very easy for success to explode your ego, despite having conquered it in the past. This phase of life often reveals someone’s character as they believe that they have nothing to lose. Ryan’s book guides you through the very murky waters of overcoming ego at such a dangerous stage of life as this.
Phase 3: Failure
Most of the time, this is the phase that passion and ego have a very thin line in someone’s understanding. Often, an individual insists on going on with a project bound to fail out of ego or in the need to ‘prove others wrong’. This is where most people call it passion, but Ryan calls it ego. This phase is often overlooked but it can lead to paralysis of an individual and retrogressive progress for a big chunk of their lives.
This is a very tiny, almost microscopic, look at this masterpiece of a book. The knowledge, insight, warnings, lessons, and experiences in this book are beyond comparison. If you want a quick and easy way to deal with ego, often a close cousin of pride, then this is a book for you. Whether you are a small business owner, a student, a CEO of a multi conglomerate, or even the President of your country, the ego will always want to creep into your life and take the steering wheel. You must be able to always conquer it for the ego is not your friend and it does not want what is best for you. Ego is your enemy!
